My creative journey began in childhood. I had the privilege of a childhood in Papua New Guinea, a beautiful natural paradise. I was lucky to sit with and learn from local traditional artisans their understanding of colour and texture, weaving mats and baskets and some carving and inlay work. I touched only very lightly in those areas but loved the experience.

I continued to be connected with colour and texture through hobbies and school subjects, eventually participating in a degree in Visual Arts.

I’ve developed skills in DIY, gardening, and have enjoyed learning about other cultures artistic expression through travel. All of which have fed my hunger for nature, creation, colour and pattern.

As many who explored the creative space, which provided much satisfaction and food for the soul, the other more earthly needs meant I decided to find paid work in another field. This time with the focus on people. Initially through admin in recruitment, then training and development consultancies, resulting in deep development as an executive, leadership, and personal coach for the recent 24 years, which has given me immense appreciation, gratitude and inspiration for the people I walk alongside. Each human is carrying so much behind their professional and everyday roles.

Quilting feels like another way to offer that same care. Every piece is created as a kind of fabric hug for the human we often keep hidden inside. I love bringing together colour, texture, and story to create quilts that comfort, warm, and connect. Each one is stitched with care, using high-quality fabrics and threads, so it can be lived with, loved, and treasured for years to come.

Resources we love

Every peice begins with a commitment to quality. We believe that the highest-quality fabrics and threads are the foundation of pieces meant to be used, enjoyed and passed down for generations.

Each stitch reflects care, craft, and respect for materials that elevate quilting from simple making to a true art form.

That’s why we source from only the most trusted names in quilting.

Together, these exceptional materials ensure that every quilt from Nex Atelier is more than the sum of its parts—it’s a uniquely crafted original, made with care, integrity, and enduring beauty.
